Microsoft to sue over pirated software

By Joey Gardiner, 23 September 1999 17:58

NEWS Lawsuits have been filed against three Oregon-based companies accused of selling pirate Microsoft software. Microsoft is portraying the move is part of an ongoing legal effort to halt the spread of companies that illegally sell pirate programs. Microsoft received calls about each of the companies and subsequently asked them all to discontinue the illegal trading. The software giant is convinced that the three companies - Key Computers, International Computer X-Press, and the Electronics Superstore - continued to sell the products after having been warned and so has decided to take the matter to the courts. Consumers worried about the authenticity of Microsoft products or the validity of their vendor should call the Microsoft hotline on +1 800 785 3448.
