NEWS IT Relief is the technology industry's vehicle for supporting charity. It was launched in 1996 to support Comic Relief, but this year has decided to back an organisation called KIDS, a UK charity which works with parents and carers to help children with special needs or disabilities. IT Relief has made a commitment to fund the networking of all the regional KIDS sites, allowing parents and carers to come in and find out as much as they can from the Web, for example. IT Relief also aims to install a KIDS terminal in the homes of those children who are housebound, allowing them to communicate with the outside world using a medium that doesn't recognise disability, the Web. This initiative is called KIDS ONLINE. To succeed, the organisation needs YOUR support. The target is to raise £150,000 by the end of 1999. The IT Relief Ball will be held on Friday 8 Ocober at the London Hilton to raise some of this money. The organisers promise a fantastic evening supported by celebrities and incorporating the IT Relief Mammoth Auction, in which many glittering prizes will be up for grabs. A table for 10 costs £1,500, which includes champagne reception, dinner, the auction, and a band. There are also sponsorship packages available. For more details about tickets, and the sponsorship options available, email helpkids@itrelief.org .
