New Labour, new Web site

NEWS The Labour Party is launching a revamped Web site this week, in time for its annual conference in Bournemouth. The site, http://www.labour.org.uk , provides news and information about the Party and allows users to make donations or email Tony Blair. All Labour members will receive a free email address provided by Freeserve. The Party hopes the site will boost its campaigning power and put it ahead of its political rivals. Labour backbench MP, Derek Wyatt, said the government has to make the most of technology. "It's far more powerful politically then any of us can comprehend," he admitted. "We need open access to government so people can email ministers," he added. The site will broadcast live coverage of Tony Blair's conference speech tomorrow and a gift shop allows dedicated New Labour fans to buy anything from fridge magnets to mouse mats.
