American author sues AOL over Web site blocking

NEWS Madelene Sabol, an American author, is suing AOL for unlawfully blocking access to her AOL-hosted Web site, according to press reports. The dispute arose because Sabol is using the site to promote her latest book entitled 'You've Got Male', similar to AOL's "You've got mail" catchphrase. Sabol claims surfers were advised that the site was "unavailable" - a move that the author insists frustrates potential purchasers. The author also claims that AOL's lawyers have demanded the site be turned over to AOL's authority. Sabol is reported to have instructed her attorneys to seek a permanent injunction and restraining order against AOL.
