NEWS The Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has reacted positively to its first meeting with the recently appointed government e-envoy, Alex Allan. ISPs and Internet technology companies met with MPs, including the Minister for E-Commerce, as well as Allan at the 4th Annual Parliamentary Advisory Forum. Clare Gilbert, AOL general counsel, Europe, and an ISPA Council Member, said the main topic of debate was once again the issue of access and infrastructure costs in the UK. Among the companies to present to interested MPs were Cisco Systems, Deloitte & Touche, and Quallaby. AOL's Gilbert said the meeting was a chance for industry representatives to voice their concerns to Allan, and they were encouraged by what he had to say. "He gave a very positive response. He claimed he wants to hear feedback through his Web site. He has a positive mandate to implement changes and also to listen to the industry, so we must take him up on that," she said. E-envoy Alex Allan's Web site is at http://www.e-envoy.gov.uk/ .
