SMEs lag behind corporates on ecommerce

NEWS Small companies are lagging behind large corporates in their use of ecommerce, according to research carried out by the London School of Economics (LSE) and E-Audits, an Internet research firm. The study - commissioned by Novell - found that large, established companies make better use of IT than start-ups. Researchers reported that in the key ecommerce area of online ordering and payment, large companies scored five-times higher than small companies. The research also revealed there is no direct link between corporate growth and Internet use, and said companies are wasting their money if they fail to integrate new technology into their existing business strategy.
