NEWS Doctors in the Poitou-Charantes region of France are to gain access to a healthcare portal that will provide them with real-time information on their patients. The scheme - called www.e-sante.org - has been developed by the Institute for the Evaluation of New Health Technology (IENHT) in France and supported by a number of vendors including portal expert Viador and France Telecom. To ensure security surrounding patient medical records, the site will incorporate encryption and authorisation technology supplied by Viador. The site is due to go live in the second half of 2000 although tests have already commenced on a private network.
