NEWS Outsourcing giant Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) has acquired the IT services subsidiary of British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) in a deal thought to be worth £100m. The deal to buy the company, called IT Services (ITS), includes a five year contract to provide full IT support for BNFL. CSC will take full control of the company, which provides services for a number of other utilities, healthcare and public sector clients, as well as BNFL. ITS did not put a value on the acquisition, but industry analysts have placed the value in excess of £100m. CSC has promised to allow ITS to continue trading under its current name, and will retain all of its staff. It claims the deal will accelerate its move into the UK utilities sector, as well as allowing BNFL to concentrate on its core business. ITS currently has revenues of £40m, of which £16m comes from contracts with other utilities, the healthcare and other public sectors. Headquartered in Warrington, ITS employs 500 staff in seven locations throughout the UK.
