NEWS French Smartcard company Gemplus has launched an electronic money wallet that users can recharge from a mobile phone. Called the Cashcard, consumers can use it to pay for goods in shops and libraries as well as a phonecard in public telephone boxes. Once credit runs out, the card can be inserted into a Motorola mobile phone and cash credited to the card from the user's bank. The company launched the scheme in Singapore with mobile operator
MobileOne, Motorola and the banking association Nets (Network for electronic transfers).
