NEWS IBM Global Services has entered into a $1bn, ten-year outsourcing deal to manage systems for four Nordic companies. ICA, If Property and Casualty Insurance, Skandia and Storebrand will hand over the reigns to IBM in one of the largest outsourcing deals in Europe. The deal will also see IBM Global Services become a strategic partner for IT infrastructure and the management of the Nordic companies' systems. Johan Ekesioo, IBM Global Services manager for Sweden, said: "The companies will still take care of their own application development but we will provide them with the infrastructure to help them grow globally." IBM's services division will manage the entire system including mainframe computers, servers, operating systems, help desks and telephony and data communications. In the case of If Property and Casualty Insurance IBM will only be managing its mainframe operations.
