NEWS In a surprise move, Red Hat chief financial officer Harold Covert has left the Linux developer and moved to struggling computer maker SGI. Covert joined Red Hat in March after leaving software company Adobe Systems earlier this year. In a statement, Covert said: "I am looking forward to applying my expertise in financial and administrative management to SGI. I am confident that SGI will soon regain the position of computer industry leader, and will achieve revenue growth and profitability in the process." Covert will be the third person to fill the role at SGI in recent months, following the departures of Steve Gomo in January and Betsy Rafael in May. Red Hat president and CEO Matthew Szulik wished his departing CFO well. "Hal is a talented chief financial officer who has made valuable contributions to the company, and we wish him well in the future," he said in a statement. Red Hat plans to appoint an interim CFO soon while conducting a search for a permanent replacement.
