NEWS Motorola has increased its military technology portfolio with the acquisition of Printrak, a US supplier of command-and-control software. Motorola will pay around $160m in cash for all Printrak's stock, in a deal due to close at the end of this year. Motorola is positioned to meet a growing demand for integrating two-way radio communications with the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and records management software (RMS) which Printrak develops. Printrak's clients are mainly national, state and local government agencies - a market now defined as 'public safety.'
