NEWS French supermarket chain Carrefour has almost halved the amount it will spend on its internet venture. The firm had intended to spend E1bn (£600m) on its online shopping venture Ooshop.com but the company will now invest E600 (£365m). Hervé Defforey, financial director at Carrefour, claimed the money needed for the venture was less than had first been estimated. Ooshop.com is expected to go live at the end of next year. However, only shoppers in six large towns will be able to benefit from the service.
