CEOs unaware of illegal software liability

Four out of five professionals are unaware that responsibility for illegal corporate software falls to the CEO or managing director rather than the IT manager.

NEWS A study carried out by ICM Research, on behalf of the Business Software Alliance, found that nearly half those questioned thought IT managers are responsible for having unlicensed copies of software on the network, a crime that can lead to imprisonment. On the back of the survey BSA will be sending software audit forms to the CEOs and MDs of most of UK's firms over the coming month.
