NEWS The week of voting saw 600 people take part. Both Power and Bowden used email campaigns to bring out their supporters in force and rocket past the favourites for Alex Allan's old job. This ingenuity saw Power, founder of internet learning network Ecademy, pull in 213 votes, while policy watchdog Bowden managed 87. Carayol is currently the CEO of consultancy Voodoo and maintains the e-envoy should be someone who can see beyond e-government to promote an effective use of ecommerce in British industry. Ann Steward, currently director of e-government in the Office of e-envoy, came in close behind, followed by her colleague Richard Barrington, director of industry at the e-envoy's office. Applications for the post closed on 23 October and the Cabinet Office hopes to name a replacement for Allan by the end of November.
