NEWS Push technology, which allows the end user to receive automated messages created by a central server, is ideal for corporate usage because of its instant alert, reminder and other real-time functions. The mobile giant said users can respond rapidly without having to send either SMS messages or emails. Speaking exclusively to silicon.com in Helsinki, Finland, Timo Teimonen, business development manager at Nokia, said: "Nokia sees push as a vital part of business communications. It will become a standard feature on our WAP servers and it will be easy to implement to the corporate network." Nokia unveiled its push compliant server in August this year, but Teinonen admitted that handsets will not be available until the end of 2001. He added: "The push standard was agreed in July this year by the WAP forum, which now has allowed the introduction of the technology to wider corporate implementation."
