Amazon.com in union row

Amazon.com has been accused of union-busting activities by the Washington Alliance of Technology Workers (WashTech) - the union that's trying to organise Amazon's customer service workers.

NEWS WashTech says that Amazon's management evicted four employees from the company lunchroom because they were handing out union materials to fellow workers. The union claims the move was a violation of US labour law. But according to US reports, Amazon has denied evicting the union organisers. The company says they left of their own accord. Over in California, employees of Etown.com have also been complaining of anti-union activities from management. The company sacked one third of its customer services staff soon after they sent in their petition to the union. Etown says the timing is coincidental.
