NEWS Speaking at the New Gutenberg multimedia festival in Morlaix, he said it was essential for the part government-owned telco to offer unmetered access within the next few months. He called on the government to take a more active role in promoting the trend for unmetered access, which is spreading across Europe. He told delegates he had already engaged in discussions with Michel Bon, CEO of France Telecom, to ensure that 'all you can eat' internet access was available before January 2001. He said France Telecom will meet the FF500m (£46m) cost of offering this service. The European Commission has called on all EU countries to ensure unmetered access is available through the unbundling of the local loop by 2001.
