NEWS Colin Jenkins is on secondment from Energis - where he is director of special projects - initially for three months, but with a possibility of extending his stay to six. Jenkins will advise the Greater London Authority (GLA) on how to encourage more high-tech businesses to invest in London. He'll also inform the GLA on how developments in information technology will affect London's business community. In a statement, Jenkins said: "London is already a highly successful global hub for financial services and creative industries. By embracing and exploiting the latest business and communications technology, London can remain a leading business centre." Jenkins will also try to tackle the capital's increasing IT skills shortage. The move is part of a programme set up by business group London First and the CBI to encourage links between the GLA and London's commercial sector.
