NEWS A jury of six was asked to evaluate 150 female executives from across industry sectors in terms of their influence in their sector and in business in general. Judges included Esther Dyson, chairman of Edventure Holdings, Nathalie Behar, consultant for Russell Reynolds Associates and Lynda Gratton, professor at the London Business School. Arredondo is credited with expanding Yahoo! into eight European markets and making $113.6m in sales last year. Marjorie Scardino, CEO at media group Pearson, came in at number two followed in third place by Clara Furse, CEO at the London Stock Exchange. IT and telecoms dominated the top 20 places as Marianne Nivert, CEO at Telia, came in at number 12. Julie Meyer, the woman behind the First Tuesday networking club was thirteenth, narrowly beating Sari Baldauf, president of Nokia Networks Finland, and Martha Lane Fox, the much talked about co-founder of Lastminute.com, who tied in fourteenth spot. Also in the top 20 were Olga Dergunova, managing director for Microsoft Russia, Isabel Aguilera, director general at Dell Spain and Marie Claude Peyrache -the only woman on France Telecom's 10 strong board of directors.
