NEWS As PC sales growth slows, Microsoft is pushing ahead with a number of new initiatives that it believes will capture new customers in their homes, in small businesses, in large enterprises and even when they are out on the road. Ballmer did admit there is a high risk that the company could spread itself too thinly as it chases new customers in markets outside its traditional PC domain. With the company initially looking to gain a foothold in new markets, Ballmer said: "The issue isn't whether Microsoft will rule the world. The issue is whether we will execute as well as we need to on our priorities." Ballmer's remarks came in the week that Intel, Yahoo and other tech companies announced slow downs in business. Ballmer admitted that a slowdown in growth will affect Microsoft's revenues but added: "Let's say the PC market grows eight per cent this year. That's still 12 million units of growth - bigger than most other markets in the world. So even a slowed down PC market is still an excellent market."
