'Get your hands off our PCs' say US bosses

American CTOs are unwilling to give thin clients or mobile terminals the opportunity to replace the PC - preferring to stand by the time-honoured standard of desktop working.

NEWS Only a quarter of 600 CTOs questioned by US magazine CIO think of the PC as an outgoing model. The report revealed that many users in US companies will not be persuaded to put all their data on a central computer. Also, according to the CTOs, the performance scope of small network computers or internet appliances is not yet comparable with that of a PC. By Christian M Wagner
