NEWS The new Evo line, due for release today, will replace four of Compaq's current brands - the Desktop Pro, iPaq PC, Thin Client and Armada workstations. The announcement follows a decision earlier this year to merge consumer and corporate divisions into Business Access Group, a move Compaq hopes will save it $600m by allowing it to concentrate on the higher margin enterprise and global services markets. Compaq recently lost its market lead to Dell, which also releases a new workstation station today, the Precision 530 series.
