NEWS The number of outsourcing deals grew 50 per cent last year, with 17 of the largest deals being worth more than $1bn. According to IDC, who researched the findings, one of the biggest deals in 2000 was the ten-year contract from IBM Global Services and pharmacy giant Aventis. The Life-Science group, made up of the former Hoechst and Rhone-Poulenc business units, is looking to offer Big Blue over $1.5bn for its IT services. According to IDC analysts, IBM won 22 of the 100 most lucrative business deals for IT services, over the last year, CSC won 17 and EDS 14 contracts.
