NEWS Britain's computer services market was worth £32bn last year, according to a report published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). IT consultancy, facilities management and systems integration were the biggest crowd pleasers - pulling in 24 per cent, 20 per cent and 13 per cent of sales respectively. Large firms unsurprisingly accounted for the majority of sales in the sector, but businesses with less than 10 employees reminded vendors of their importance accounting for 34 per cent of the services bought. However, the outlook for the next year is not so bright. Earlier this month, analysts at IDC predicted the European economic slowdown could knock as much as $150bn off worldwide IT spending over the next two years. The report is a break of tradition for the ONS, which has measured product sales in one service sector for the first time in response to the huge level of interest in the IT market.
