NEWS Logica and Intec Telecom Systems have signed a deal to jointly provide Intec's Interconnect system to Westel, Hungary's largest GSM mobile network provider. As part of the co-operative marketing agreement with Intec - the provider of telecoms operations support systems - Logica will deliver and install Interconnect, the inter-carrier billing product, to its telecommunications customers around the world. Jozsef Szucs, CIO at Westel, said in a company statement: "Westel's co-operation with Intec and Logica will play an important role in assuring maximum revenue for our GSM network investment." Hungary will be one of the first eastern European countries to introduce UMTS and 3G network services in the region. Westel is already providing services to over two million mobile users. Matav, Hungary's major provider of fixed line and mobile telecommunications, and Deutsche Telekom jointly own the company.
