ISPs are competitive enough says Oftel

NEWS Oftel has announced that the market for dial-up internet service providers is sufficiently competitive. These conclusions were published in response to a request from BT that Oftel should relax its regulation of BT's wholesale dial-up services. Oftel has decided that the internet connectivity market is competitive enough, but Friday's announcement was just an initial finding which will be reviewed and commented on by other parties before being put into force. In any case, Oftel does not plan to do anything until it has finished assessing the market for two other legs of the journey from the home to the internet - the call origination and internet call termination markets.
