States may pursue Microsoft on their own

DoJ decision may be ignored by individual States...

NEWS California and New York attorney generals could both take action against Microsoft if they decide the DoJ action does not go far enough. Elliot Spitzer, attorney general of New York, said he will "press for remedies that go beyond those requested by the DoJ", according to the San Jose Mercury News. The attorneys are specifically concerned about the impact of Microsoft's upcoming XP operating system.
