NEWS Compaq Computer has won an outsourcing contract to supply GE Aircraft Engines with system services for £95m over the next five years. The contract extends an existing agreement with GE Aircraft Engines. The deal involves Compaq providing the jet engine maker with desktop support, help desk, inventory and equipment management, database administration and systems continuity. Compaq's Global Services division reported $8bn in 2000, attributing $1.2bn to outsourcing. Last month's merger agreement with HP was mooted as an attempt to build a services arm that could rival market dominator IBM Global Services
