NEWS The nascent agreement between Microsoft and the Department of Justice is under threat with news that the state of Massachusetts has rejected the deal. Eighteen states brought the case against Microsoft and all must sign up to the new agreement proposed last week. A spokeswoman for Tom Reilly, attorney general of Massachusetts, confirmed they will not be signing the agreement but would not be drawn as to why. She said: "We are not really going into those details." The decision leaves the door open for Massachusetts to pursue its own case against the software giant. It also gives other 'dissident' states an alternative route to consider.
