NEWS IBM has landed an outsourcing deal with global travel services group Cendant. The 10-year, $1.4bn deal will see 500 Cendant IT staff join IBM. Cendant operates Avis car rental, Howard Johnson and the Ramada hotel chain. It also runs the Galileo International network which links 44,000 travel agents, 500 airlines and 47,000 hotels. IBM will provide data processing and helpdesk services. It will run 1,400 servers from Cendant's data centre in Denver.
