NEWS Application development company Borland has bought VMGEAR, a company that provides performance assurance and testing tools for Java developers through its OptimizeIt product suite. The deal will cost Borland $2m at closing and a further $6m in retention payments over the next three years. Borland said the acquisition should help it sell more Java-related products. Privately-held VMGEAR is also known as Redline Software.
