NEWS The European Commission will drop its month-long investigation into Intel for allegedly abusing its dominant position in the microprocessor market. The move was announced over the weekend by competition commissioner Mario Monti in a meeting with US anti-trust chief Charles James. The move comes as part of a sustained move by the European Commission to improve co-operation with their American counterparts. Last week the EC gave a green light to the planned merger between computer giants Compaq and HP.
