NEWS Stephen Timms, the former education minister, has replaced Douglas Alexander as the UK's ecommerce minister. Timms previously served as school standards minister, a role which he only started last June.
Prior to his political career he spent more than 15 years in the high-tech sector, serving as a telecommunications analyst with research house Ovum, and also enjoyed a stint with IT firm Logica. Douglas Alexander has been appointed minister of state at the Cabinet Office in Tony Blair's latest reshuffle. Timms' website can be found at http://www.stephentimmsmp.org.uk
