NEWS EDS is cutting 2,000 jobs, around 1.4 per cent of its global workforce. The outsourcing giant insisted the redundancies are not a result of the precarious financial situation of WorldCom, which owes EDS payments as part of its $6.4bn, 11-year contract. EDS is also facing scrutiny for its accounting practices. The company's share price fell to its lowest level for eight and a half years following the announcement.
