NEWS IT decision makers turn to analyst reports before any other source of information when it comes to researching technology vendors, and now prefer getting their news online than from paper magazines. A report by research company Vanson Bourne found that 56 out of the 100 IT directors surveyed said they read analyst reports prior to making corporate purchases. Thirty-eight per cent said they found media articles useful, while just 24 per cent deemed technology ads useful. Websites have also overtaken printed magazines as the first port of call for news and information, with more IT chiefs keeping abreast of events online (41 per cent) than in the printed press (40 per cent). IT directors from large companies are more likely to use online media than their counterparts in small and medium-sized firms - 46 per cent compared to 36 per cent.
