NEWS CGI group has signed a $153m IT outsourcing contract with Canadian-based airline manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace. Under the terms of the seven-year deal CGI will be responsible for legacy application services, user desktop management and helpdesk support to all of the group's Canadian employees, as well as data centre and infrastructure services for the Toronto site. The deal sees Bombardier extend its relationship with CGI, which has supplied legacy system support for two years. Robert Proulx, VP of business processes and CIO at Bombardier Aerospace, said in a statement the move will help the company cut costs. He said: "We are in a very competitive market and as such we need to improve efficiency and find flexible solutions while reducing costs. In partnering with CGI, we are meeting these needs and are protecting our knowledge with the same qualified team of technology professionals who know our systems intimately. This is vital for the continued smooth running of our operations."
