NEWS CSC has signed a five-year, $30m IT outsourcing agreement with Vesta, Norway's third-largest insurance company.

Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will provide mainframe, midrange, desktop, web hosting, print and distributed computing infrastructure services, in addition to helpdesk and network infrastructure services. These services will support approximately 1,400 users at Vesta locations throughout Norway.

Vesta is the Norwegian division of the Tryg Vesta Group, which is the second largest general insurer in the Nordic countries, and the new deal follows the group's award of an $80m IT outsourcing contract to CSC in May 2003.

Erik Gjellestad, CEO of Vesta and member of the Tryg Vesta Group executive management, said the deal is important for the company's future business development and will help it "operate even more profitably" for the benefit of customers.

The deal is the latest in a line of big CSC wins that include a $1.5bn SAS Airlines contract and a £1bn contract to run part of the UK's NHS care records infrastructure.
