NEWS Department store BHS has signed an £80m, seven-year extension to its outsourcing agreement with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC).

The deal covers support of desktops, servers and point-of-sale equipment at 165 shops. BHS was CSC's first big outsourcing win in the UK, and a statement from the company noted that it sees "significant business benefits" in leaving these functions to an IT specialist.

Also today, CSC released third quarter figures showing revenue jumping by 29.6 per cent to $3.62bn, and net profits of $128.4m for the three months ended 2 January.

The company has benefited strongly from the trend towards outsourcing, especially by governments around the world, and said it announced $6bn of new business in its Q3.
