NEWS Texas-based IT services firm Perot Systems has won a $40m contract with global engineering and construction firm Parsons E&C.
As part of the five-year deal Perot will run Parsons E&C's entire IT operations, including application development, electronic messaging, networking infrastructure, CAD support, global collaboration and strategic planning.
The work will be split mainly between Parsons E&C's four centres in Texas, the UK, Pennsylvania and California, although support will also be provided at sites in Kazakstan, Russia, Nigeria, the Middle East, Canada and Australia.
The deal is an extension of the two firms' relationship as Perot Systems previously had an IT services agreement with Parsons Corporation that covered Parsons E&C.
Bob Mattana, VP and industrial services group leader at Perot Systems, said the agreement will enable Parsons E&C to diversify on a geographical basis and establish a local presence within the main countries in which it is expanding.
