NEWS Canadian IT services outfit CGI Group has landed another hefty outsourcing contract. It has been signed up to look after the information technology needs of soft drinks giant Cott around the world, at a cost of CDN$210m (£85m) over 10 years.

The contract spans Canada, Mexico, the US and the UK and covers application development, systems integration and maintenance and support. CGI will also help with the implementation of an enterprise resource planning system.

Among the reasons for choosing CGI, in a statement Cott CFO Raymond Silcock highlighted a flexible agreement, a rigorous governance model and cost savings.

Seventy-five of Cott's IT team will join CGI.

Last month CGI won a 10-year, £138m agreement from Cox Insurance that sees some work being offshored to Canada and India from the UK.
