eBay picks new technology head

Chris Corrado steps up to the plate...

NEWS Online auction giant eBay has announced it has chosen a new worldwide chief technology officer.

Chris Corrado, formerly CIO for AT&T Wireless, will replace the company's current CTO, Marty Abbott, and will report to eBay's COO, Maynard Webb.

Corrado and Abbott, who has held the position of CTO at the online auctioneer for five years, will initially work together for some months. Corrado will then take over responsibility for the eBay's site operations, IT and security.

Corrado has also worked with Wipro and Meriill Lynch before joining eBay.

eBay now has around 125 million users and the company's third quarter results for 2004 saw turnover rise 52 per cent year-on-year to $806m.
