NEWS Barclays has appointed Don Trotta as its new chief information officer.
Trotta joins from Citibank, where he was in charge of global technology for its retail businesses. He starts work at Barclays on Monday.
He will join the Barclays operating committee and report to Barclays chief operating officer Paul Idzik.
Barclay's interim CIO, Mike Foley, will take on the role of chief administrative officer, also reporting to Idzik.
Idzik said in a statement: "We have tremendous confidence that Don will drive our technology organisation to the next level. He is a world class executive, and we are delighted to welcome him to Barclays."
In 2003, Trotta was made CTO of Citigroup's north America and international retail banking division. Between 2000 and 2003 he was CTO for its north American retail banking business.
From 1999 to 2000 he worked for Chase Manhattan Bank in New York as head of strategic technology, National Consumer Services, and before that he was senior vice president, global re-engineering at American Express in New York.
