Reuters is to supply its financial market data service to 2,500 BlackBerry users at Swiss bank UBS.
The UK company is to send reports over its wireless delivery system to the investment banking arm of the bank.
Reuters worked with Swiss IT solutions company Tech Op to develop the service.
The value of the UBS deal was not disclosed but it will mean bankers have access to Reuters content and their internal information.
Peter Moss, global head of enterprise solutions at Reuters, told silicon: "They'll be using it to distribute information from us and also some information internally. I'd expect them to use this for as long as BlackBerry is relevant. We expect this to be the first of many."
Moss said that nine other firms are piloting the service and a further 20 are expected to buy the service within six months.
"We are offering something different in the market to our competitors. BlackBerry is the first of these devices we will be supporting," he said.
