The European Commission is calling for businesses and citizens within its jurisdiction to let it know their opinions on the regulatory framework for electronic communications.
The EC is reviewing the five directives which govern the market and is asking for the continent's input into whether the legislation needs revising.
Among the topics under review are consumers' privacy and security, wireless spectrum distribution and how well the current directives can accommodate technological convergence and development.
Any changes to the legislation will be adopted in 2006 and will come into force in member states within two to three years.
Interested parties have until the end of January to make their opinions known to the EC, the EU executive body. Contact details can be found here.
