JP Morgan Chase is to create 100 jobs at its European Technology Centre in Scotland.

Recruiters are looking for software engineers to join 600 staff in building financial and banking systems at the Glasgow office.

The Scottish Executive, the devolved government for Scotland, is backing the move with a £1.5m cash injection.

A spokeswoman for JP Morgan Chase told silicon.com: "We've assigned the jobs as very high level for skilled software engineers. That would be for designing systems for the bank globally. They will be created over the next two years. Glasgow has proved to have been a resource of top talent."

The company opened the technology centre in 1999 to build software for the investment bank's asset management and other divisions.

In a statement, Jack McConnell, first minister of the Scottish Executive, said: "It shows yet again that Scotland is a natural home away from home for international financial companies.

"JPMorgan, and others, have recognised this. They are a leading financial services company, with operations all over the world but they have chosen to continue to expand in Scotland."
