The IT chief of the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) has quit after less than a year in the job.
Michael Stevenson, director of technology at the DfES, will leave his post at the end of this month to "pursue new interests".
The change comes ahead of a new three-year strategy to put IT at the core of learning and teaching that will see the DfES work more closely with schools and colleges and partners such as the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (Becta).

A DfES spokeswoman said no timetable has yet been set for the appointment of a successor to Stevenson.
A statement issued by the department said: "We are grateful for his contribution to the work of the DfES over recent years, not least his work in refocusing the work of Becta, the department's key delivery partner for IT in schools and other educational establishments."
