Barclays has appointed Neil Wilks as senior technology officer for its central support.

Wilks moves from UBS, where he was global functional head for financial control IT for nine years.

He will work under Barclays CIO Don Trotta who said Wilks will be responsible for overseeing "IT portfolio execution" within central support.

The move comes as former Barclays CTO Kevin Lloyd is set to join rival bank Lloyds TSB as CIO later this month.

After a 20-year career at Barclays, Lloyd will head up the IT for Lloyds TSB's wholesale and international banking division, and will be on the group IT board with the IT heads from the bank's retail and insurance and investment units.

His departure from Barclays follows that of former bank CIO David Weymouth last year.
