According to Escapism media, the company behind the tables, drinkers who order remotely become more creative, frequently leaving their lager comfort zone for spirits and cocktails.
The union's Rayhan Rafiq Omar told silicon.com the touchscreen ordering will save students having to wrestle with a throng of drinkers to get served. The union is also looking at new ways to earn money from the tables including sponsorship and by opening the system up to advertisers.

So cool my old uni haunt. could have done with this when i was there, but hey wheres the Camels ?

I suggested something like this years ago when I was at college, apart from I also wanted to to the ability to select music from the table and also possibly web-cams etc. which customers could look through to see their cocktails etc. being prepared!
Great Idea which should be rolled out to more places.

May I pose a couple of questioms.
Just who pays for all this? Is this the way in which the University is wasting the ever rising tuition fees or this just a gimmick to feed someone's ego trip.
Durability, in a inevitably drnk fuelled emvoronment. How long will it last????

That is pretty cool i have to say, but i suspect it'll be costly for bars to actually implement this technology.

I also suggested this several years ago and was told the problem was the legal requirement of the barman to ensure he didnt sell more alcohol to some one who had had a few too many! It will be interesting to see what happens especially if these tables are consuming 40% more as in your article
