Roll-up laptops, fast cars, programmable phones, CIO Forum highlights and more

Rolling with the times: Folding up your laptop as easily as your newspaper could happen in as little as five years, Cambridge scientists have predicted.

The arrival of 'morphing materials' opens up a host of possible applications from folding screens to futuristic planes and cars.

This prototype of a 'roll-up laptop', made by Dr Keith Seffen, lecturer in structural engineering at the University of Cambridge, would hold the main electronic components along the wooden strips on the vertical sides of the screen.
